Time to load in the potting mix! We got this idea from the web. Check their link at: North Texas Vegetable Gardeners.
The Hubs and I put two ideas together with this project and made it work for us. (To see how we got to this stage, look at the previous two posts on this blog. There is a link to the hoola hoop garden where we got the idea for the arched top.)
This green screening is shade cloth. Once, years ago we found some on a roll in the big box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. We purchased it to use as screening for our porch. It works great for that! We have very harsh winds and they have stood up to the task. In twenty-one years out here in the country, we've replaced them once and that was a year or so ago.
We had some left over. Terry and I 'sewed' the shade cloth to the wire mesh on 3 sides with thin wire. Now, we need to get a piece of PVC 8' long and put on the side on the west end. (to your left) It will strap down so that the wind won't move it and the cats can't get inside. I'm thinking the cloth will be a little bit of a wind break as well.
I'd like to hear what your garden plans are for this year. Are you growing a little herb garden or a big garden to can from? I want to see pictures if you have them. You can post pictures of past gardens and harvests if you'd like.
