I was going through some of my previous writing in there and went to the seldom written in "listening' section. That one is hard for me a lot of times. One time I wrote a comment on the Old Testament account of Joseph.
You may remember that he was put in prison because of a terrible lie told on him. He interpreted 2 dreams of fellow prisoners. Each of them promised they would tell the king to free Joseph. One was executed and the other forgot for 2 years.
He only remembered Joseph because the King was upset by a dream that he could neither remember nor interpret. The x prisoner remembered that Joseph had interpreted his dream and told the King. The king sent for Joseph and the Lord gave Joseph what the dream was and the interpretation.
Because the dream had been a warning of severe famine coming to Egypt, the king put Joseph over preparations for the coming years of lack. The entire populations of that area were saved because of this.
What would have happened if the x prisoner had remembered as soon as he was freed? Perhaps the King would have also set Joseph free and Joseph would have gone home. The king would have no one to tell him his dream or the interpretation. The people would have starved and the Israelites would have never lived in Egypt at all. They may not have survived the famine.
The timing of the Lord is perfect. 2 more years in prison was not fun for Joseph, but in order for the plan of God to be put into motion, he had to keep the faith during his captivity that God had not forsaken him.
Sometimes I feel that things take way to long. Could it be that God is working things in the background? There may be a greater good in the future. I must learn to be patient.
I am glad that I wrote down that thought a few years back. I had forgotten that lesson learned. Now it is refreshed in my mind. Don't grow weary. God had a plan.
