The Nashville Series
In the Fall of 2012, while I was painting the stairs up to my bedroom, I was contemplating the upcoming writing Challenge, NaNoWriMo. (National Novel Writing Month). I had made up my mind to write the sequel to "Capture the Wandering Heart", but there was unrest in my imagination.
I had the storyline in my head. It would be easy to just go with it, but something was wrong. I couldn't get into it like I wanted to. While I painted I felt that I needed to do something completely different so that the writing would stay fresh.
The1970s are special to me because that is the time period in which I became a young person on my own. The story of Betty Barnes almost wrote itself. I hope you enjoy "Six Miles From Nashville." I strive to write books that cause the reader to pause and think a little. They are not terribly deep, but hopefully, the reader will see something that will aid them in their life's walk.

Six Miles from Nashville

Book I of the Nashville Series released in 2013 is about Betty Barnes, a girl from Guymon, Oklahoma who is a 1974 graduate of high school on her way to Bible College in Missouri. Through a series of events she finds herself in a cafe six miles from Nashville.
Betty Barnes finds herself hundreds of miles away from her Guymon, Oklahoma home. Since leaving for a large Bible College in Missouri, her life has been twisted around. Not that things weren't already a challenge for her with her brother in Vietnam and her heart bleeding from a recent break up.
Faced with unbearable loneliness and loss, she arrives at a diner six miles from Nashville. There, she has a chance to pick up the pieces and build a new life for herself as an independent young woman with a great future ahead of her.
"Six Miles from Nashville, Book I of the Nashville Series. This book was not what I expected at all. I was figuring this would be some mushy-gooshy romance. Instead, I have been moved to tears with a sweet story of a young woman trying to find herself and hang on to God & her dignity through the influences of the 70's." ~Dawnita Fogelman
"Elaine Littau has done a wonderful job in writing her first "contemporary" romance book. I have already enjoyed reading all of her historical western fiction books, and I was excited to get this one as soon as it came out. This book about a young woman who goes through devastating events and experiences losses in her early adulthood grows up quickly when she settles in a small town just outside of Nashville. I enjoyed the way Elaine presented the gospel in this story. In many instances, I found reference to places in the Oklahoma panhandle that are so familiar to me, and that made it an even more fun read. I highly recommend this book...and I especially can't wait to read the next installment, as it appears this is book 1 of a new series. Yay!" ~ RJPrice

"It sucked - but in a good way. Read it - you'll get sucked too! It didn't take long to get sucked into the lives of the characters. Humor and quirkiness fused together to create some really likable actors in the story. There were some twists I didn't expect, and frankly, I was sad about them, but it was necessary to the story (Don't ask, I'm not giving it away!) Looking forward to the next book!" ~ppatch
Christmas in Nashville

Book II of the Nashville Series released in 2013 continues Betty's story and introduces her brother who was a POW in Vietnam. He must decide whether to face his past or plow through it to the future that offers hope and promise.
Bill and Betty Wall's popularity in the Country Music Scene is growing. Looking from the outside-in everything about her life seems perfect. Being a newlywed is nothing like she imagined and worry about Joey, her brother who is MIA from the Vietnam War, keeps her up at night.
Betty's parents had tried everything they could think of to get information about him only to find that he was released from a POW camp and sent to the USA. Where could he be? Why didn't he come home to Oklahoma?
After receiving a letter from a private investigator in regards to the child she put up for adoption over two years ago, Betty's life was further complicated. Her hopes were high that she might be able to mother the child she gave away only to be faced with court appearances and setbacks that stretched her faith in God to the limit.
"Elaine,
You did it again. I have thoroughly enjoyed spending my day with another great read of yours. Thanks, so much, for consistently keeping God and His goodness and forgiveness in your books! I knew it would be good but was not expecting to get wrapped up in such beautiful emotion. Looking forward to the next one. Gosh, I hate this book had to end! Felt like I knew those people and now I wish I did!." ~ Barbara

Restored (formerly called 'Jailbird')

How much could one year change a woman? Would Debbie Williams ever overcome the stigma that followed her after her incarceration? Long before she endured her first lock-up, she was a widow who had given up on love. If she had ever entertained the idea of remarriage, all hope for that disappeared with the clang of her prison door. Why did her life become even more complicated after she served her time? This was no time for a man to show interest, or was it? Maybe the old Debbie was gone and ready to live. The freedom she experienced was more precious to her since it had been restored.

Cowboys and Crude Oil: Modern Day Cowboys (The Nashville Series Book 4)

Bruce happily left the job at the mechanic shop in Oklahoma City for a new life on a ranch near Elk City. He was nursing a broken heart from the rejection of a woman he had begun to love. Who was he kidding? No woman would want to take on a man like him and his four children. They had just begun to heal after the death of their mother. He believed the cowboy life of his childhood was a better fit for them and he was ready for whatever might come his way.
Kathy discovered that she could make better money driving a truck and hauling crude oil than using the bachelor degree she had toiled to earn. Her parents were wary of her choice of occupation and yearned for her to be married and provide them some grandchildren. Their urging produced the opposite results, sending her far away from Woodward, Oklahoma. She was self-sufficient until the day she met a cowboy.
"I have enjoyed all of Elaine's book!! Her references have been good and she has some serious times to keep you on the edge of your seat but she also has good humor involved!! Good reading!!" ~Ilene
